Romania

My colleague and I have been in Romania for over 6 months now and have really seen God at work on many levels.

Our main focus is a local church that is currently undergoing major changes and is in a very difficult period. We are supporting them with children’s and youth ministry, as well as going out into the streets with them weekly to share the good news. We are part of the smaller community and support them in everything we can.

Then we also work in Roma communities with a man who has spent much of his adult life serving children and young people in these different communities. The areas are really dark places and you can really see and feel the strong grip the devil has on these people. Where depression, sickness, hopelessness, suicidal thoughts but also suicide are part of everyday life.

Every week we have children’s meetings and youth meetings. And every week they come in with darkness in their eyes and leave lighter and happier. After hearing about the hope of the Gospel and tasting the freedom of Jesus Christ.

I remember one time in particular when we had a team from the Bible school here with us. And we ended the meeting as usual with the invitation for prayer, almost all the children then came forward and a little girl of 9 years received intercession. She had been struggling with nightmares and strong fears for a long time. Afterwards she came forward crying and sobbing that she no longer felt fear. She was so used to the feeling of peace and was so grateful!!!

This is just one example of many, we see God working every week in these areas. They have a strong faith in the spiritual and a hunger for Jesus as they have seen the dark forces and know exactly what that means. Although it takes time and we probably won’t see the fruit, we feel blessed to be a part of breaking this ground, and winning them in prayer, one by one.

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

It is time for Laos!

So wonderful to be back in Laos. I was here the first time 25 years ago, and ever since that visit, something in my heart has remained connected to this beautiful nation. I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
