New mission opportunities in Portugal/Samuel Thoor, Missionary North Macedonia

Mission work is flourishing in Portugal, and Patrick and Johanna Rager are at the centre of it. After completing their studies at the Word of Life Bible School in Uppsala, they felt a strong call to serve in Portugal. Last August, they took a bold step of faith, moving to the south of the country and buying a home in a small coastal village.

Their vision is clear and compelling: to plant a local church and establish a Bible school that will serve and equip the community for generations to come. With the stability of owning a home in Portugal, they are committed to long-term ministry and eager to see lives changed.

Already, doors are opening for fruitful ministry. Patrick and Johanna work with a local church, where they recently hosted an international service that brought together 50 people. Their home, Casa da Vida, has become a hub of ministry, hosting mums’ meetings, home groups and soon a mission team from the Word of Life Bible School. In the near future, they plan to launch an Alpha course that provides a welcoming space for people to explore faith and build relationships.

One of their greatest desires is to remain connected to the Word of Life and receive spiritual support, leadership and encouragement as they navigate this exciting journey. They recognise the importance of community and accountability in ministry and are keen to see deeper collaboration in the future.

God is at work in Portugal, and Patrick and Johanna are stepping out in faith to see lives transformed. This is just the beginning, and they invite others to pray, support and even join them in the work God is doing. The mission in Portugal is growing – will you be part of it?

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

It is time for Laos!

So wonderful to be back in Laos. I was here the first time 25 years ago, and ever since that visit, something in my heart has remained connected to this beautiful nation. I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
