Bags were rolled, carried and dragged out to the parking lot at Livets Ord, Uppsala for departure to Asker, Norway.
I have never been to any other conference than the Word of Life conferences – so I was fully charged, while at the same time a joyful nervousness bubbled inside me.
In total, we were 87 people from all corners of the world who made their way up to Askers Conference 2023!
The sunset from one of the girls’ dormitories enhanced the view of the busy road in Asker. Time passed, visitors poured in and the conference was suddenly in full swing!
Every meal was a feast for the eyes and stomach. What an incredible variety of food we had from morning to night. One evening, a girl friend from Bible school and I were eating in the dining room. A blonde, well-dressed woman in stylish heels came up to us. I don’t remember how the conversation started, but what I take away from that conversation was the peace and security after she asked the question “did you grow up in the church?”
I was told that for the first 17 years of my life I was not a believer or a member of any church. I was also told that I was saved two years ago through a healing.
Until that moment, I had never, to my knowledge, heard the Holy Spirit speak to me – but there and then I suddenly experienced clearly how the Holy Spirit urged that “it’s okay” – so I boldly continued and told my whole testimony.
Afterwards, the woman gave me a big warm smile and said something like “I’m glad you’re here, what a trip, praise the Lord!”
I also vividly remember an evening meeting when Rune Borgsö preached. A woman who had pain in her lower back came forward for prayer. We prayed and God’s presence was so strong! When she was asked if she was still in pain, she bowed to the floor and then shook her head. To see such miracles, God working right under your nose, it’s incredible!
That it is possible to organize events like this conference, where all focus is on God is so amazing! I am grateful, blessed and happy that we have a God who is close to us regardless of the city, time of day or how many people praise him. God is incredibly good!
