A time to reunite

‘Finally, we could come together again!’ This joyful sentiment echoed throughout the Word of Life International Summit held in Georgia in November. After six long years of waiting, leaders from across the movement gathered once again to celebrate the privilege of fellowship, worship and common purpose.

The plans for our previous Summits changed due to global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical conflicts. But now, some 120 leaders from 12 countries – from Norway in the West to China in the East – gathered to seek God’s guidance for this important moment in history.

The theme of the Summit, “For such a time as this”, highlighted the urgency and importance of active engagement in the midst of global uncertainty. Despite the turmoil in the world, participants were reminded that God remains sovereign. He equips his people to face challenges and empowers them to bring hope and transformation in every situation.

Engaging and equipping the next generation was a key focus of the summit. Leaders recognised the important role of young people in the Church and explored strategies to empower young people to become active participants and future leaders in their communities.

The leaders also shared field reports from their respective regions, testifying to God’s incredible work around the world. Despite significant challenges, the stories of lives transformed and churches thriving in difficult circumstances were a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness.

For many participants, the Summit was a source of deep encouragement. A pastor from Central Asia said: “It was so important for me to be here and connect with my brothers and sisters in the movement. Sometimes I feel so alone, but this unity reminds me that I am not alone.”

Another pastor from Armenia reflected: “I loved the worship times and teaching about the next generation. Now I have a plan to activate my church when I go back,” and his face lit up with a hopeful smile.

The Word of Life International Summit in Georgia marked an important milestone for the movement. With a renewed vision, stronger unity and a new generation of leaders stepping forward, the future is bright. Together, we are equipped to face the challenges of the world and continue to advance God’s kingdom, confident that he is with us ‘for such a time as this’.

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

It is time for Laos!

So wonderful to be back in Laos. I was here the first time 25 years ago, and ever since that visit, something in my heart has remained connected to this beautiful nation. I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
