We continue to support the Afghan people

The Taliban have been in power for a year and a half now, and the country has descended into total chaos. In the midst of this, poverty has increased and many people are starving right now. The situation is very difficult for Christians too, as their security network has collapsed and it is now dangerous for them to share their faith with anyone.

Afghan women are the ones who have suffered most from Taliban rule. Almost all their rights have been taken away. Women are no longer allowed to work or study, and they are not allowed to go out unless accompanied by a man. All their basic human rights are being challenged and questioned. The Finnish government has just made a change to the asylum law, so that Afghan women can be granted refugee status solely on the basis of their gender. That says something about the seriousness of the situation!

You can help Christians in Afghanistan We have been working in that nation since 2002. We have built a good network of house groups and know many of the believers in the country. Every month, we travel into Afghanistan from a neighboring country to provide them with what they need – material help, but also hope. We pray with people, hold meetings and show them our love in practice.

Many Afghans have fled to neighboring countries, and we are actively involved there too in various ways. In one of the countries, we have a missionary couple living among them in a city where there are 15,000 Afghan refugees. They work among many families and our humanitarian aid has opened the doors of people’s homes. We have had the opportunity to share the Gospel with them and start Bible study groups. Last fall, we also organized a camp for young people, giving them something else to think about besides the war and the Taliban. “Even if the world doesn’t talk much about Afghanistan anymore, we can’t forget about them,” says our missionary. And with a hopeful look, he continues: “People are so open and desperate to find hope for the future. Now is the harvest time for the Afghan people!”

Dear Missionary Friends, let’s keep doing good! We can all pray and give to this work. Afghanistan needs us. It costs about SEK 2,500 to provide a family with their basic needs for one month. Would you consider helping a family?

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

It is time for Laos!

So wonderful to be back in Laos. I was here the first time 25 years ago, and ever since that visit, something in my heart has remained connected to this beautiful nation. I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
