The Word of God wears no chains …

God’s word has no shackles, not even in Ukraine.

The war has now been going on for almost two years and, sadly, looks set to continue for a long time to come. Amidst all the difficulties, the Word of God is being preached and many are coming to faith.

We support five new church plants around the country and last fall four Bible schools were started in the cities of Khmelnitsky, Odessa, Pavlograd and Poltava with teachers from Uppsala and Ukraine.

Going forward, there will be huge needs to rebuild infrastructure and tens of thousands of buildings etc. that have been blown up. Physical and spiritual wounds and traumas will need to be healed for a long time to come. Here, Ukrainian Christians have a big task already now. Bible schools are a great way to equip, train and eventually send out workers to the harvest. Studying God’s Word is a strong and firm foundation to stand on. Because there is a harvest. People are longing for hope in a very difficult time. Jesus is the light of the world, He is the answer in the darkest of times. Please pray with us that believers in both old and new churches, as well as students in Bible schools, will reach out with the Gospel, with God’s love for the Ukrainian people in both word and deed.

The Word of Life also continues to provide humanitarian aid in various ways. A car is about to be purchased for a newly started bakery near the front in eastern Ukraine. Winter is as always a great challenge with cold and lack of heat. Firewood for stoves is purchased and food parcels are distributed together with bread from the bakeries. Now it is a matter of perseverance in prayer and practical help.

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

It is time for Laos!

So wonderful to be back in Laos. I was here the first time 25 years ago, and ever since that visit, something in my heart has remained connected to this beautiful nation. I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
