In mid-November, we were in Oradea, Romania, and stayed there for about a week. The city has over a hundred churches and cathedrals, making it a religious hub in the country. It felt like you could see a church on almost every other street.
Ruben, one of the three missionaries with us, had been there once before on a mission trip and had two contacts in the city. Much of our time was spent spending time with them and building on those relationships.
One day, Alex, one of our contacts, took us to Lăzăreni, a small village outside Oradea where many Roma people live. Together with the pastor from the local church and several others, we went from house to house praying for people. It was a very special experience, and it reminded me of how Jesus sent out the twelve disciples in the gospels. The disciples were tasked with going from house to house, village to village, healing the sick, casting out demons, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God – and that’s exactly what we got to be a part of.

At one point, we had the opportunity to pray for a 24-year-old girl named Pamela. She was experiencing severe pain in her shoulders, lower back, and both hips. As we prayed for her, I felt the Holy Spirit say, “Measure her legs.” So, I asked her if she could sit down so we could measure her legs. It turned out that her left leg was shorter than her right leg, so we began praying for her left leg to grow out – and it did, right before our eyes! I then asked her if she could do a squat to be sure the pain in her hips was gone, and she was able to do it! The pain in her back and shoulders wasn’t completely gone, but it improved after prayer. God performed a healing in that moment, and Pamela was a much happier girl afterward!
Hallelujah!
