Myanmar: Help in the midst of crisis

Myanmar faced a devastating humanitarian crisis following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on 28 March. More than two weeks later, families were still stranded, sleeping on the streets and filled with fear for the future. With widespread power cuts, limited access to clean water and medical care, the need for help was urgent.

In response, we mobilised teams in partnership with local churches in Mandalay – near the epicentre of the earthquake – to provide immediate assistance and hope to those affected. Emergency outreach packs were distributed to over 550 families. These packages contained essential supplies such as food, clean water, medicine, torches, mosquito nets, mosquito repellent and the booklet “The Story of Jesus”. Each item provided not only physical support but also comfort and spiritual encouragement in a time of crisis.

Local pastors played a crucial role, not only in distributing aid but also in praying, sharing the Gospel and linking families to neighbouring Christian communities. In a country that is 89% Buddhist, this outreach became a powerful testimony of compassion and faith, planting seeds of hope in hearts yearning for peace.

Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of our teams, countless lives were touched. We continue to pray for those affected and for lasting transformation through this ministry. We invite you to join us in prayer – for those helped, for continued healing and safety, and for the light of Christ to continue to shine in Myanmar.

Together we made a difference. Together we brought light into the darkness.

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
