Saudi Arabia, a dream come true!

What a feeling it was to land in Saudi Arabia! I had been waiting for this moment for 28 years. Together with Åke Carlson, I went to Jeddah to meet and serve our friends there. Landing here in Saudi Arabia reminded me of what God said to me when I was a young boy.

At the age of 14, I began to experience a strong missionary calling. I prayed based on Psalms 2:8, where God says: “Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for an inheritance and the whole earth for a possession.” As I prayed and repeated the words, “Lord, give me the nations” over and over, I heard in my spirit God answer my prayer and ask me a question. He said, “There are many nations in the world, so which ones do you want?”

“What do you mean? Who do I want? You are God, so you should tell me!”

It felt like he was smiling and expecting me to say something – that I would proclaim specific nations over my life. And, for some reason, I heard myself speaking out these countries: “Afghanistan, North Korea and Saudi Arabia”. Why these particular nations? I don’t really know. But when, 13 years later, through a variety of circumstances, my wife and I ended up as full-time missionaries in Afghanistan, I realized how much power there was in those words.

After our time in Afghanistan, we worked in Asia for a few years before returning to Sweden. I still had a conviction within me that if God could lead me to Afghanistan, He could also take me to North Korea and Saudi Arabia in the future. And so, in 2017, a door opened for me to also start a work in North Korea.

Now, when I landed in Saudi Arabia, it was like coming full circle. God had fulfilled my dream. It took 28 years, but God knew and He is faithful. It is interesting to see how He works in our lives. The Holy Spirit places desires and dreams in our hearts that motivate us and move us to action.

So, dear friends, what can we learn from this? That God is faithful and that he wants to fulfill what your heart desires. Start dreaming again! Big dreams! And let’s put our faith that He really can do great things in and through our lives!

LOBC-Team: Healing and restoration in Bolivia

It was Wednesday morning when we arrived, exhausted after a dramatic 36-hour journey and running on barely two hours of sleep. A kind man from a local church picked us up and welcomed us into his home. As we sat together making small talk, he began to sing a Swedish worship song, sharing from his time as a missionary there. In that moment, the weight of the journey caught up with us, and we began to cry. Questions filled our minds: what was going to happen on this trip, could God really use us like this, and did we even have the strength to be there? He gently encouraged us to rest, and after a short nap we were picked up by the pastor and reunited with the rest of the team. After breakfast and several hours of sleep, we felt more alive—still tired, but ready. We were reminded that in our weakness, God is our strength.

It is time for Laos!

So wonderful to be back in Laos. I was here the first time 25 years ago, and ever since that visit, something in my heart has remained connected to this beautiful nation. I have always wanted to come back—and now, finally, I am here again. Walking these streets, meeting the people, and sensing God’s presence so strongly reminds me that His timing is always perfect.
